The Institute for Advanced Radiation Oncology

Research

In earning global attention for its clinical application and research of breakthrough methods of radiation therapy, Monmouth’s Institute for Advanced Radiation Oncology is actively involved in numerous research studies — primarily as an affiliate of the Philadelphia-based Fox Chase Cancer Center for Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and in spearheading its own clinical research initiatives. For a complete list of active clinical trials being conducted at Monmouth Medical Center, click here.

These national clinical trials are investigating a full spectrum of radiation therapies, as well as identifying ways to reduce the side effects of treatment. In 2004, Monmouth Medical Center joined a select group of six major academic institutions, including The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, in a national clinical trial that delves into reducing two serious complications experienced by head and neck cancer patients during radiation treatment.
